    To put it in very simple words, Infinite Tsukuyomi is a Genjutsu that goes on forever and endlessly or in other words Infinite Genjutsu. To elaborate, this is the most powerful Genjutsu in the world of Naruto which can trap the entire world is a dream for the rest of their lives.

    To cast the Infinite Tsukuyomi, one must gather all the tailed beasts, awaken the Ten-Tails and use it to plant the Divine Tree. Then using the Divine tree, one must cast the Infinite Tsukuyomi on the moon and the process will start on its own. The moon will cast the Infinite Tsukuyomi using white light to trap everyone on the planet. Anyone who comes in contact with this light will get trapped in it. There are different complex methods on how exactly this happens as Madara and Kaguya use different techniques to cast the Infinite Tsukuyomi. 

    The Infinite Tsukuyomi does not affect dead or reanimated people. The only jutsu capable of avoiding the white light is Six Paths Sasuke’s Perfect Susanoo. Once trapped, everyone will get wrapped around into the Divine Tree where they will see a dream of their liking and choice. These dreams will be structured for every individual’s happiness and joy. These dreams will go on forever until the Infinite Tsukuyomi is undone.


    What Episode Is The Infinite Tsukuyomi?

    Episode no. 425 which is titled “The Infinite Dream” builds up the plot to the main event which is the Infinite Tsukuyomi. Where Madara fights Team 7 and uses his limbo clones to distract Naruto and Sasuke to cast the Infinite Tsukuyomi. 

    In Episode 426 which is titled “The Infinite Tsukuyomi” Madara flies up, to face the moon, opens his third eye the “Rinne Sharingan” and draws a reflection of the Rinne Sharingan on the Moon which results in the casting of Infinite Tsukuyomi. Thus, a very long arc starts from episode 426.

    What Episode Does The Infinite Tsukuyomi Start?

    The Infinite Tsukuyomi starts in episode 426 which is titled “The Infinite Tsukuyomi”.

     In this episode, Madara uses his third eye and casts its reflection on the moon. This results in the activation of the Infinite Tsukuyomi. The Moon starts emitting a bright light on the world. One by one everyone including cats, dogs, and any other living thing which is under the bright light’s radius gets wrapped around and taken away into the Divine Tree.

    Everyone’s eyes turn which looks a lot like Rinnegan and then they lose their subconscious as they are taken into their own endless dream.

    After casting the Infinite Tsukuyomi Black Zetsu betrays Madara and uses the Divine Tree to bring back Kaguya. Black Zetsu being Kaguya’s child always wanted to bring her back to life after she was sealed by Hagoromo Otsustsuki. 

    Team 7 along with Obito tries to seal Kaguya with the help of the Sun and Moon seal on Naruto and Sasuke’s palm given by Hagoromo. After Obito sacrificing for them and giving Kakashi Double Mangekyou Sharingan, they succeed in sealing Kaguya through teamwork.

    After Kaguya gets sealed now they can undo the Infinite Tsukuyomi using the Sun and the Moon seal, but Sasuke decides to dominate the world by killing Naruto, all the Five Kage, and sealing the Tailed Beast. After that Naruto and Sasuke fight one last time trying to settle everything. The battle ends in a draw and Naruto convinces Sasuke to come back to the village with him.

    After that Naruto and Sasuke go to all the villages and undo the Infinite Tsukuyomi using the powers gifted to them and finally they end the war together.   


    In Which Episode Does The Infinite Tsukuyomi End?

    The Infinite Tsukuyomi is undone in episode 479 which is titled “Naruto Uzumaki”.

    This episode is basically the aftermath of Naruto vs Sasuke at the Final Valley and the end of the war. The episode starts with Naruto and Sasuke lying with one of their hands gone due to a clash. Sakura meets up with and heals them. Sasuke now decides to return to the village, apologizes to Sakura. Then Naruto and Sasuke use their hands together to weave a sign which undoes the Infinite Tsukuyomi.

    They go village to village undoing the Jutsu and they finally end the war. Naruto becomes a hero, Sasuke goes to prison and the war comes to an end and the world is saved.   


    Does Naruto Break The Infinite Tsukuyomi?

    Yes.

    Naruto does break the Infinite Tsukuyomi using the powers he received from Hagoromo Otsutsuki.

    But he doesn’t do it alone as it can’t be done solely by his powers. To break the Infinite Tsukuyomi, one must have both the Sun seal and the Moon seal.

    Naruto has the Sun seal and Sasuke has the Moon seal.

    Both these seals were given by Hagoromo to specifically seal Kaguya Otsutsuki in the Six Paths Planetary Devastations. They can also be used to undo the Infinite Tsukuyomi.

    So, after defeating Kaguya and fighting each other Naruto and Sasuke break the Infinite Tsukuyomi.

    How Long Is The Infinite Tsukuyomi Arc?

    The Infinite Tsukuyomi arc is a very long arc that goes on for a long time. This arc consists of both canon and non-canon episodes.

    The Infinite Tsukuyomi arc starts at episode 426 which is titled “The Infinite Tsukuyomi”. Where Madara casts the Infinite Tsukuyomi

    The arc and the main story of Naruto ends in episode 479 which is titled “Naruto Uzumaki”. Where Naruto and Sasuke undo the Infinite Tsukuyomi ending the war.   


    Naruto Shippuden Infinite Tsukuyomi Filler Arc

    The Infinite Tsukuyomi arc does have a lot of fillers. Here’s how it goes:

    Episodes 427-450 are complete filler episodes.

    Episodes 451-458 are Mixed Canon/Filler episodes.

    Episodes 464-468 are complete filler episodes.  

    All other episodes in this arc are canon and are a must-watch.

    In this very long arc, there are a lot of Filler, Mixed Canon Filler, and Canon episodes.

    Out of these episodes, a large portion of episodes is shown with characters in their own individual dream where they seem to be getting everything they wanted in their lives. Their dreams, their goals, their loved ones, etc.

    There are around 23 of these episodes and they start at, 427 which is titled “To the Dream World”.

    The entire dream arc ends at episode 450 which is titled “Rivals”. 

    After episode 450 the story goes into a mixed canon arc about Itachi’s past which is adapted from a novel.   


    Should I Skip The Infinite Tsukuyomi Fillers?

    Yes

    You can skip all the complete filler episodes which start from episode 427 up until episode 450.

    After episode 450 there are a couple of mixed canon filler episodes and I strongly recommend you to watch them all as some of the canon material is very important.

    So, to put it simply, skip episodes 427-450.

    After that start watching episodes 451-479 which have some canon and mixed canon filler which you should watch nevertheless.

    The main plot ends at episode 479 so you can watch the last 20 episodes for nostalgia and bid the series a farewell.
