Itachi Uchiha, better known as “Itachi of the Sharingan”. A shinobi of the Hidden Leaf village, who went on to become an Anbu captain. He also became an international criminal after he slaughtered the whole Uchiha Clan and joined the infamous criminal organization “The Akatsuki”.
After slaughtering his clan and sparing only his little brother Sasuke Uchiha’s life, he had already made up his mind to die at the hands of Sasuke. But he tormented Sasuke by showing him the scene of their parents’ death by using his Mangekyou ability “Tsukuyomi” only to encourage him to get strong enough to kill him to take revenge for the Uchiha Clan. Itachi wanted to die at the hands of Sasuke to atone for his sins. Not to mention Itachi was also sick because of an unknown disease and was almost blind due to his Mangekyou Sharingan
Why Did Itachi Die With a Smile?
Itachi died with a smile on his face because in the end he was killed by his younger brother, who he loved more than anyone and he was even able to save Sasuke from Orochimaru’s curse mark through which Orochimaru planned to revive himself using Sasuke as his vessel.
Itachi was able to finally achieve peace after suffering for so long carrying the burden of slaughtering his whole clan and being terminally ill. In the end, dying at the hands of Sasuke who had become strong enough to kill him gave him peace, he no longer needed to protect Sasuke from people like Danzo or Orochimaru. In the end, it was all a part of Itachi’s plan.

Why Did Itachi Die So Easily?
As stated previously it was all a part of Itachi’s plan to die at Sasuke’s hand BUT that didn’t mean he would just let Sasuke kill him without a fight. Itachi went a little easy on him but this fight can also be considered a test for Sasuke in the eyes of Itachi. And not to forget Itachi was terminally ill as well and was prolonging his life through medications just to survive until this fight. His illness and the effects of going blind due to his Mangekyou Sharingan contributed to his fighting abilities being weakened.
Why Did Itachi Die So Early?
So Itachi was already facing a terminal illness and his health was deteriorating and he was already going blind too. If he had not fought Sasuke at that time he would not have survived for much longer anyway.
Itachi’s death also had a huge effect on Sasuke not only did Sasuke obtain the ability to use “Amaterasu” but Obito also told Sasuke the truth about Itachi and later he implanted Itachi’s Mangekyou Sharingan into his own eye socket to obtain the “Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan”.
Itachi’s death played a huge role in shaping Sasuke’s character and his seeking revenge on the Hidden Leaf which was the cause of his brother’s suffering.
Did Itachi Really Come Back to Life?
Yes, Itachi did come back to life.
During the Fourth Great Ninja War, Kabuto offers to help Obito by not only amping up the Zetsu with Hashirama cells but also bringing dead powerful shinobis back to life using “Edo Tensei” which also included Itachi Uchiha.
Now with an immortal and invincible body, Itachi Uchiha was brought back. You can say that this version of Itachi is the strongest version of Itachi. Because he had no illness affecting his health or going blind due to his Mangekyou Sharingan.
But he was under the control of Kabuto but Itachi being Itachi broke free of Kabuto’s control using “Kotoamatsukami”. Shisui Uchiha’s genjutsu, which Itachi had previously stored in Naruto to be used on Sasuke.
Why Did Itachi Die the Second Time?
After finally breaking free from Kabuto’s control, Itachi knew the only way to stop the war would be to stop Kabuto from using Edo Tensei and he was the only one who knew about Kabuto at that time, so he was the only one who could have stopped him.
But he meets Sasuke on his way to stop Kabuto and both the Uchiha brothers go to Kabuto’s hideout together. Since you can not stop Edo Tensei just by killing the user they had to come up with a plan to stop Kabuto other than killing him.
But Kabuto after acquiring sage mode and all of his body enhancements was not an easy opponent to beat. Itachi and Sasuke teamed up to handle Kabuto, in the end, Itachi had to use Izanami, an Uchiha jutsu to trap Kabuto in a loop by sacrificing his one Sharingan and getting him to stop the Reanimation jutsu Edo Tensei. Which meant Itachi dying again.
But this time Itachi shows the Uchiha past to Itachi using a genjutsu and expresses his true feelings by telling Sasuke that he will always love him no matter what path Sasuke chooses. And he finally dies while saving the shinobi world from the threat of Edo Tensei.
Why Was Itachi Killed Off?
Itachi was a fan-favorite character even before the truth about him was revealed. Killing a fan-favorite character is not an easy thing to do for the Mangaka but killing Itachi was very important for Sasuke’s character development because he is the Deuteroginist of the story.
It was also important for the plot as well regarding Obito because the only person keeping Obito from fulfilling his plan was Itachi. If he had stayed alive he would not have allowed Obito to revive Madara and so on.
Is Itachi Alive in Boruto?
No, he is not alive in Boruto. He died during the Fourth Great Ninja War.
Many OG Naruto fans want to see him again in Boruto and we do have 2 Edo Tensei users alive in Orochimaru and Kabuto so who knows what could happen.
Why Did Itachi Die to Sasuke?
To atone for his sins Itachi had already decided to by the hands of Sasuke and by making Sasuke do that he will also be making Sasuke stronger in the process. And one other reason was also getting freedom from all of the burdens he was carrying for years and dying at the hands of the person he loved the most his younger brother was all a part of his plan from the start.
Does Itachi Still Love Sasuke?
YES, he loves Sasuke even though he wanted Sasuke to protect the Hidden Leaf village but he was ok with any path Sasuke decided to walk down. He cared deeply for him so much that even after killing his own parents he could not bring himself to kill his younger brother Sasuke.
Did Itachi Have a Disease?
Yes, Itachi was facing a terminal illness that was worsening his condition every day. Nobody knows was a disease it was or how did he get it or when did he get it. But it was an incurable disease. He kept himself alive with medication and willpower just to face off with Sasuke.
THE LEGACY OF ITACHI UCHIHA
Although, he will be remembered as the man who slaughtered his whole clan and a member of the Akatsuki. But in the novels, after the war Naruto spread the information about how Itachi was brought back to life using Edo Tensei and Itachi was the one who stopped the Edo Tensei and helped them during the Fourth Great Ninja War. This might have improved his reputation in the eyes of the world.
In the end, Itachi is one of the best Naruto characters and a fan-favorite character. People love his character, the sacrifices he made for the village can not be compared to anyone, the burden that he carried for not only the Uchiha clan but the whole Hidden Leaf village was huge. But in the end, you can define his character as a loving and caring older brother.
